Pro 1 Pico vs PicoSure® Pro

One platform.
More possibilities for your clinic.

Tattoo removal. Permanent makeup removal. Pigmentation. Skin quality.

Pro 1 Pico brings these treatment opportunities together with native 1064 nm, integrated 532 nm, twin pulse delivery and three delivery modes. Add PicoMatrix™ Radial, PicoMatrix™ Lattice, PicoMatrix™ Hexa and 585/650 nm dye handpieces to build the configuration for your practice.

For clinics considering PicoSure Pro, Pro 1 Pico offers a compelling combination: a native Nd:YAG foundation, twin pulse delivery for Fitzpatrick IV–VI, and the flexibility of Picosecond, quasi-nanosecond PicoFusion™ and Long Pulse YAG in one console.

Pro 1 Pico laser platform in a modern treatment clinic

Start with the wavelength source

PicoSure Pro's native source is 755 nm Alexandrite. Pro 1 Pico's native source is 1064 nm Nd:YAG.

That difference matters because 755 nm has greater melanin absorption, while 1064 nm has lower epidermal melanin absorption and generally deeper penetration. Wavelength research.

Pro 1 Pico pairs its native 1064 nm source with integrated frequency-doubled 532 nm. PicoSure Pro's optional 532 and 1064 nm delivery systems convert output from its 755 nm source. PicoSure device documentation.

Choose the platform around the patients you treat

PicoSure Pro offers picosecond treatment for tattoos, pigment and skin revitalization.[2] Pro 1 Pico combines that treatment focus with three delivery modes, a native 1064 nm foundation and a choice of single or twin pulse delivery. Here is what that configuration can bring to your clinic.

Do you treat Fitzpatrick IV–VI?

Make native 1064 nm and twin pulse delivery part of your equipment decision. Pro 1 Pico gives you this wavelength from its native Nd:YAG source, with twin pulse options for its Fitzpatrick IV–VI protocols.

There is clinical interest in dividing delivery into two pulses. In a 2019 split-face study of 12 women with Fitzpatrick III–IV melasma, a nanosecond 1064 nm twin pulse mode achieved similar pigment improvement to single pulse, with less reported pain and immediate redness.[6] This supports interest in pulse-delivery choices; it does not establish comparative safety for Pro 1 Pico or Fitzpatrick V–VI.

For your clinic: a native 1064 nm platform, a choice of pulse delivery and training built around your patient mix. See these features demonstrated before you choose your equipment.

Do you treat melasma?

Bring 1064 nm picosecond delivery and Long Pulse YAG into the same equipment purchase. Pro 1 Pico gives your team pigment-focused and thermal delivery options for a condition that requires an individualized, ongoing management plan.

A 2023 split-face study comparing 1064 nm picosecond treatment with nanosecond twin pulse treatment found that both improved melasma severity in Fitzpatrick III–IV participants, with no statistically significant difference in pigment improvement between treatments.[7] A 2026 randomized split-face trial also found improvement with both picosecond and nanosecond 1064 nm treatment, without a significant difference in severity scores.[10]

The buying advantage is flexibility: choose a platform that brings several delivery options together, with training to help your team connect the equipment to its melasma service.

Does your melasma service also assess redness and vascular changes?

Melasma can include changes in the dermal environment alongside visible pigment. A study of skin samples from 50 women found increased blood-vessel size and density in melasma lesions.[8] Those findings give clinicians a reason to assess vascular changes as part of the overall presentation.

Clinical research has also explored combining pigment-focused and thermal delivery. In a preliminary, uncontrolled study of 20 women with Fitzpatrick IV melasma that had responded poorly to picosecond treatment alone, adding microsecond 1064 nm treatment was followed by further improvement in melasma severity.[9]

Pro 1 Pico brings Picosecond and Long Pulse YAG into one console, supporting assessment-led pigment and selected vascular or thermal protocols. This configuration gives your clinic room to develop a broader service without adding a separate console for each delivery mode.

The clinical studies above used other devices. Their findings explain the research behind delivery choices; they do not validate Pro 1 Pico-specific outcomes. Nanosecond Q-switched treatment in those studies is distinct from Pro 1 Pico's quasi-nanosecond PicoFusion™ mode. Melasma can recur, and laser treatment forms part of a broader management plan.

Do you want to build skin-quality services alongside tattoo and PMU removal?

Ultra-Short Picosecond supports tattoo, permanent makeup removal and pigment-focused services. PicoFusion™ adds a quasi-nanosecond stacked-pulse mode for skin-quality and collagen-banking protocols. Long Pulse YAG adds longer-duration 1064 nm delivery for vascular, redness and dermal-heating protocols.[5]

Build your treatment menu around your patients and clinical priorities, with three delivery modes in one platform and manufacturer-direct training to put them to work.

Which handpieces will support your service plans?

Pro 1 Pico pairs its native 1064 nm source with integrated frequency-doubled 532 nm. The 585 nm and 650 nm dye handpieces add wavelength options for selected tattoo pigments.[5]

PicoMatrix adds fractional delivery for skin-quality, texture and acne-scar protocols. Choose from three named patterns:

PicoMatrix™ HexaHoneycomb

Cynosure also offers fractional treatment through Platinum Focus. Its acne-scar and wrinkle indication covers Fitzpatrick I–IV; that range applies to those fractional treatments. Cynosure separately lists flat-lens pigment treatment for I–VI.[2][4]
